Jefferson Davis Parish, LA
Severe thunderstorms possible later today and tonight. A strong upper level disturbance over the SW US will move towards the region later today. As this system approaches, warm humid air from the Gulf of Mexico will begin spreading northward today. This will lead to a favorable setup for numerous showers and thunderstorms across the area. Showers and storms are expected to begin developing this afternoon across portions of SE TX with this activity spreading eastward into SW LA during the evening and overnight hours. Increasing moisture levels, moderate instability, and strong wind shear profiles indicate parameters will be favorable for a few thunderstorms to become severe from late this afternoon into early tomorrow. Large hail, damaging winds, and a few tornadoes will be possible with any severe thunderstorms that develop. Stay tuned to media outlets and NOAA Weather Radio for this potential severe weather situation.
